Harmful Effects of Stress

The harmful effects of stress are an inevitable part of everyday life. People react with various physiologic and psychological mechanisms that help us to adapt to life’s stress. Some of the long term physiologic efforts that human beings employ to adapt to stress can lead to hypertension, heart disease and chronic anxiety. As we react physiologically to the inevitable stress of our lives we tend to deal with the issue or situation and then brush aside the root psychological cause of the stress induced anxiety.

A Tool to Help Reduce Stress

Medical science has shown that we can utilize certain techniques to help reduce the effects of stress and anxiety. Meditation is one of these tools. Meditation is the practice where a person uses techniques to achieve mental clarity and serenity by focusing the mind intently on a thought, an object, or an activity.

Guided Meditation

There are a number of forms of meditation. People develop a meditation routine that works best for them. It can be done at any time of the day or night. For some people however, it can be difficult to learn and continue practicing meditation in our daily lives without assistance from a guide or a teacher. Meditating alone can be difficult especially for someone new to the practice. One method to address this problem is with guided meditation. Guided meditation can be done with live sessions or perhaps conducted online. Guided meditation can lead a person through the process of achieving a calm and peaceful state in a step by step fashion. Guided meditations can last anywhere from a few minutes to hours and can be based on a variety of themes.
